How to prepare before your flight date

Now that you have your accommodation settled, it is time to make the necessary preparations before the day of your flight. Below is a guide that will help you prepare and avoid forgetting important things:

  1. Double-check your flight schedule and details

You might have processed your flight schedule months before the flight date, so it is best to double-check it to make sure if everything is correct. Here is a checklist to help you do this task:

  • You need to see if the names of the passengers are correct. If there is a name misspelt, you will have a hard time lobbying this with the airline staff. You need to pay extra fees and bring supporting documents to prove your identity.
  • Check your seating arrangements. There is an option where you can change your seat number and location if you want to. Although this is true, you need to do this in advance.
  • Visit your airline’s website to see what kind of additions you added to your flight. If you want to add extra meals, you can update this information on their website.
  • Check your baggage allowance to have an idea of how many objects you plan to bring with you.
  1. Bring your car to the shop for maintenance

If you are travelling by car, you need to see if it is ready to drive long distances. To confirm its state, it is recommended that you bring your car to a car shop. This is so that professionals can properly assess if your car needs any repairing or not.

Usually, the common advice of car attendants is to have your oil changed once the oil starts to get thick. Aside from that, they will also note if your tires need changing, especially if the thread count is starting to diminish. On top of that, they will also check if your alternator, radiator and other parts are working properly.

Once everything is checked and solved, this means that your car is ready to withstand long-distance travelling.

  1. Cash and other payment methods

You will need cash to be able to purchase food, transportation and other essentials when you travel to a different place. That is why you need to be ready with a handful of monetary bills, in the case where shops do not accept cards or electronic payments.

Aside from cash bills, you will also need to convert your local currency to the country you are visiting. It is best to have a few so that when you get to your destination, you can easily purchase goods without the hassle.

Additionally, you have to have your credit or debit cards ready, in case you want to buy something expensive. Doing this is better than handing out a large amount of cash to the seller.

  1. Packing the essentials

When you are packing things inside your luggage, you need to prioritize the essentials. Here is a list of essentials you need to bring to your trip:

  • At least 2 or 3 pairs of jeans
  • A set of 5 shirts
  • Underwear and socks
  • Emergency cash
  • Passport
  • Flight documents
  • Itinerary and accommodation documents
  • At least 2 pairs of shoes
  • Swim and beachwear
  • First aid kit
  • Toiletries

Once you have everything inside your luggage, it is time to weigh them to see if it will exceed your baggage allowance. To do this, you need to have a weighing scale that will accurately weigh your bags.

  1. Arrive at the airport 3 hours before your flight

You might think that it is ridiculous to be at the airport at such an early time, but this time allowance can avoid any hassle. When you are at the airport, you will need to do the following:

  • Passport and flight details checked upon arrival
  • Baggage check-in
  • Immigration

While these three may seem simple, it is usually chaos once you are there due to the volume of people present at the airport. A minute of identity and flight checking can extend up to 10 minutes, and baggage check-in can last for an hour. So, it is best to arrive 3 hours before your flight, especially if you want to get everything done fast and easy.

  1. Keep everything important near you

All of your clothes and other things should be inside your checked-in luggage, but you need all the important documents and papers near you. This means that you have to place them inside your travel bag and keep them secured no matter what. If anything happens, you are prepared and will instantly pull out what is needed.

Why negligence can ruin your plans

Negligence is the word used to describe the failure of doing proper care with something. This, in turn, leads to bad situations that can cause negative consequences in your life.

Unfortunately, every human being is prone to negligence and when you’re about to go on vacation, this can spoil all the fun. That is why you should always double or triple-check everything you need to avoid causing any hassle or problem in the future.

Hence, booking your accommodation and preparing your flights are intricate processes you need to pay close attention to. A single mistake can trigger a domino effect, which can build into something big in the future. So, no matter what you are doing, you always need to be cautious with your actions while preparing for your trip.
